Maintenance and services

Small jobs that add years to your heater.

Service your heater every few years and it can last 20. The anode rod matters most of all: change it on time and a tank can last 25 to 50 years.

  • Tank and tankless care plans
  • Anode rods, flushes and valves
  • Every part around the heater, done to code

Tank water heater services

  • Basic tank flush

Drains and flushes out the sediment and minerals at the bottom of the tank, preventing corrosion, keeping efficiency up and cutting energy costs.

  • Anode replacement

The sacrificial rod attracts corrosive elements so the tank doesn't rust. Replacing it on time is the cheapest way to avoid an early tank failure.

  • T&P valve replacement

The valve releases pressure if temperature or pressure gets unsafe. They clog or fail over time, so replacing one is a safety essential.

  • Full port drain valve

Swaps the factory drain valve for a full port valve, so the tank drains properly and flushing actually clears the sediment.

Tankless water heater services

  • Professional acid flush

Stronger than a vinegar flush. An acid solution removes mineral buildup and scale from the heat exchanger and internal pipes, restoring efficiency and extending the unit's life.

  • Stage two tankless service

A full maintenance package for tankless units.

    • Flame rod taken apart and cleaned, for safe and efficient burning
    • Intake air filter taken apart and cleaned, for proper combustion
    • Gas pressure check, for efficient and safe operation

Everything around the heater

We specialise in water heaters and filtration, and handle every part connected to them.

Parts we inspect and replace

  • Water shutoff valves, gate and ball
  • Pressure regulators, set to protect your home from city pressure spikes
  • Water heater stands, 18 inches off a garage floor by code
  • Seismic straps, mounted firmly into a wall stud
  • Water heater supply lines
  • Gas venting, repaired or replaced to suit the heater
  • Temperature and pressure relief valves
  • Gas supply lines and gas shutoff valves
  • Expansion tanks and recirculation pumps

What we don't do

  • Drain clearing or drain repair
  • Fixing sinks
  • Replacing appliances
  • Copper repipes

Accessories worth knowing about

  • Pressure regulators

City water can hit 120 psi, but your home wants about 60. A heater with 110 psi coming in has less than half its normal life. The regulator is your first line of defense.

  • Expansion tanks

Heated water expands and raises pressure. An expansion tank absorbs it, curbs water hammer and protects every appliance. Change it together with the regulator. Required on new installs in California.

  • Recirculation pumps

Hot water at the tap without the wait, and around 4,000 gallons a year saved. On tanks, a thermovalve system is our favourite. On tankless, use built in recirculation.

Do it yourself, with Brandon

Prefer to service it yourself? These are the lessons millions of homeowners learned from.

In this lesson

  1. 1Connect a garden hose to the drain valve at the bottom.
  2. 2Shut the cold supply on top and open a few hot taps in the house.
  3. 3Open the drain. A clear flow should empty the tank in about 30 minutes.
  4. 4If it only dribbles, the valve is clogged: siphon through the T&P opening instead.
