Water heater repair costs and estimates
Quick answer
Our repair visit is $395 + parts, credited towards an approved repair. Published repair ranges and installation prices are plus parts where stated. You receive the diagnosis and written price before work begins.
What determines the repair price
The failed component, the heater model, access and the cause of the failure affect the work. A thermocouple replacement is a different repair from replacing a gas control or tankless heat exchanger. Leaks also need their source confirmed before a price can be final.
A published range is a guide to the named service. Read its parts qualifier and ask whether extra work, a permit or another failed component is included. Do not assume the lowest number is the complete price for every model.
A free estimate is not necessarily a free repair visit
An installation estimate and an appointment to diagnose an existing heater are different services. Confirm any visit charge when booking. QWH publishes the repair visit price and credits it towards the approved repair.
If you are comparing a coupon or promotional price, ask which service it covers, whether it is current, whether parts are included and whether it can be combined with another offer. An old article mentioning coupons does not establish an active promotion.
Compare repair with replacement
Consider the tank's condition, warranty, parts availability and other work the installation needs. A modest repair on a sound heater can make sense. A leaking tank or repeated major failures may make a replacement the better option.
Ask for both written scopes where the choice is close. Compare complete prices and coverage, not a repair's starting price against an installation's final price.
